Job Summary

The programmer/analyst will work under the direction of Dr. Kimberley Geissler and Dr. Laura Attanasio at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. This position is responsible for working with health insurance enrollment and claims data by providing programming and analytical support to an ongoing research project.

 

Essential Functions

  • Work independently on programming and analytic tasks, such as data cleaning, subsetting, and subsequent analysis of health insurance claims data.
  • Collaborate with team members on project planning and implementation.

 

Other Functions

  • Participate in team meetings as required.
  • Contribute to the drafting of related manuscripts and grants as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in economics, public health, computer science, or related discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical software such as Stata, SPSS, R, or SAS.
  • Data management and analysis experience using survey or administrative data.

 

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Previous experience working with health insurance claims data.
  • Familiarity with a Linux server computing environment.
  • Understanding of epidemiological and biostatistical principles and methods.

 

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Current conditions require the programmer/analyst to work from home until such a time as work can resume on campus at UMass Amherst.

 

Work Schedule

Part-time work schedule, during standard working hours, of 10-20 hours (0.25-0.5 FTE) per week.

Position is temporary through 8/31/2021 with potential extension pending funding availability.

 

Salary Information

Compensation based on experience.
