Job Summary
Perform quantitative histology on non-human primate brain tissue and systems neurobiology research in rodent models using behavioral, anatomical, and genetic techniques.
Essential Functions
- Histological assessment of rodent and non-human primate brain tissue including brightfield and immunofluorescence microscopy. with quantitative and qualitative analyses.
- Work with mice, behavioral training and testing.
- Laboratory inventory management and record keeping.
- Completion and interpretation of quantitative assays.
- Preparation of solutions and reagents.
Other Functions
- Work collaboratively and effectively to promote teamwork, diversity, equality and inclusiveness.
- Work in partnership with colleagues within the CNS community and across the campus to support the Dean’s strategic priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the College of Natural Sciences.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
- BA or BSc. Degree in Biology, Psychology or Neuroscience or related field.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Experience in histology/tissue processing, immunohistochemistry and microscopy.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
Other recommended relevant experiences include working with supervising undergraduate students and good attention to detail.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Daily laboratory tasks including histological processing and microscopy.
Additional Details
This is a temporary, non-benefited, one-year appointment.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm with occasional weekend or holiday work as necessary.
Salary Information
Starting at $38,000 depending on experience.
