Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Hampshire College Health Care Associate Director of Health & Counseling Services, this position will have a special focus on providing outreach, consultation, advocacy, and prevention programming to Black/ African American and LatinX students in addition to other students with diverse, multiple, and intersecting student identities. Primary emphases include outreach to and supporting students in crisis; evaluation and treatment of a wide range of patients/ mental health conditions; participating in related mental health programs and initiatives; consulting and liaising with colleagues; leading workshops and groups; and responding to emergency and highly acute patient situations. Additionally, this position leads staff development efforts that enhance the department’s provision of culturally competent clinical services. Provides crisis/liaison services, including regular intervention with emergency situations and highly acute patient situations. This position is located at the Hampshire College Health Care Services location.

 

Essential Functions

  • Performs wide range of clinical responsibilities, including but not limited to: - Evaluation, crisis interventions, brief psychotherapies for wide variety of clients (individuals, couples, families, groups) presenting to clinic.
  • On-call responsibilities in regular rotation for a variety of urgent and emergency situations in 24-72 hour stints including nights, weekends, and holidays; and - Specialized tasks as defined with and/or by the Associate Director of Health and Counseling Services.
  • Develops and maintains racially and culturally focused initiatives including seminars, community outreach, staff and community trainings, programming, and direct service delivery. Revises, as needed to remain contemporary and effectively meet needs of diverse populations.
  • Contributes to the establishment of a safe and affirming environments for all members of the campus community. Works closely with campus partners to assess and address the needs of the community for marginalized populations. Includes active outreach and other strategies that can effectively connect these populations with related services and programs.
  • Provides functional supervision of interns and teaching within training programs. Provides community consultations and workshops.
  • Ensures regular assessment of program impacts. Prepares timely written documentation of above activities, as required.

  • Performs related duties as assigned or required to meet Department, Executive Area/Division, and University goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW), Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  • 2-3 years relevant clinical experience.
  • Licensure in Massachusetts for independent practice of social work (LICSW). If licensed in another state, must obtain MA license within 9 months of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Previous directly related work experience working with racially diverse populations, including Black/African American and LatinX individuals.

 

Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; required to work some evenings and some weekends
