Assoc Director Research Compliance, HRPO UMass Amherst
The Associate Director provides leadership and guidance in all aspects of the development and oversight of the campus regulatory program for protecting the rights and welfare of human subjects in research. Responsibilities are broad and include serving as the principal interface between the campus and external institutions and as liaison with federal officials. Post Doctoral Research Associate - Geosciences UMass Amherst
The emergence and submergence history of the Bering Strait remains a puzzle in understanding both it the Pacific/Arctic gateway history but also its role in controlling the flow and stability of ocean currents between the Arctic, Pacific and the North Atlantic. We seek applications for a Post-doctoral Research Fellow (one year but renewable to two) with computer skills in dynamic topography modeling and Glacial Isostatic Adjustments to explore how regional and far field geophysics can be used to reconcile both land-based paleoshorelines and marine based paleoceanographic records to better understanding the history of the Beringian gateway and its climatic impacts. The time frame of interest concerns change over glacial/interglacial timescales since the first submergence of the Strait roughly 5 million years ago.
Departmental Assistant / Clinical Specimen Processor UMass Amherst
The Clinical Specimen Processor works collaboratively with all team members toward the best outcomes for a Clinical Testing Laboratory and the UMass organization. The Export Control Compliance Specialist, under the direction of the Sr. Associate Director, Research Compliance, works to implement UMass Amherst’s export control compliance program. Hydrological Software Engineer UMass Amherst
NASA, together with the space agencies of France, the UK, and Canada, is launching the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite to provide transformational data to the ocean science and hydrology communities. The University of Massachusetts Amherst will be the ‘final stop’ for all information needed to produce novel estimates of river discharge at the global scale from SWOT data. We will build a platform to amalgamate all previous code, knowledge, and insight into an efficient, open source, and comprehensive software platform to be made available to NASA and the public. Our open source and containerized software will run on a range of operating systems, clusters, or in the cloud, and thus any user can pursue their own discharge goals on their own terms while we deliver on mission discharge requirements at the global scale at the same time.
