Under the direct supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Governance and Compliance, this position is responsible for the day to day creating, maintaining, and monitoring of a compliant environment that results in clear institutional control of all athletic programs relative to Conference and NCAA legislation as required by NCAA Division I membership. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing interpretations to coaches and staff regarding NCAA legislation and creating rules education documents. This position will have a primary focus on initial eligibility and monitoring in addition to other compliance responsibilities.
Director Pre-Award Services UMass Amherst
The Director of Sponsored Research has primary duties of directing the overall management and oversight of the Office of Sponsored Research, which is responsible for the proper management of the university's pre-award activities. The incumbent is responsible for collaborating with campus administrators and academic units to assist with recommending for and developing and implementing policies and procedures to facilitate and ensure compliance with sponsoring agencies and university regulations. As the Institutional Authorized Representative, the incumbent is responsible for endorsing and submitting proposals; and as related to pre-award activities, will act as the certifying official for assurances, providing representation and expanded authority as required by Federal and State statues, as well as executing sponsored activities documents to bind the Institution contractually. In addition to participating in University committees such as Research Council, this position serves as the point of contact and liaison for sponsored agency officials, auditors, University administrators, and faculty and staff for pre-award administration activities. In collaboration with the Director  of Post-Award,  responsible  for  dispersing information (verbal, written and electronic), interpreting regulations, developing and implementing policies/procedures, resolving problems, funding activity projections, participating in long and short-range planning, and publishing data and reports relative to pre-award  research activities. The Director of Sponsored Research reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Research & Engagement.

The Stephens Lab ( at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is recruiting a Senior Research Fellow. The Stephens lab is a new lab and studies the mechanical and shape properties of the cell nucleus and how these properties affect major nuclear functions such as genome organization, DNA damage, compartmentalization, and transcription. Abnormal nuclear shape has been used as diagnostic and prognostic marker for human disease such as cancer for nearly a century without understanding how these nuclear abnormal deformations occur and what their real consequences are to cell function.
