Real Property Facilities Analyst - Seattle, WA UMDI - Seattle
The University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute (UMDI), has been tasked to: (a) help increase capacity for the Office of Head Start (OHS) Regional Offices (RO) in the determination, tracking, and management of the federal interest in Head Start (HS) and Early Head Start (EHS) grantee facilities nationwide; and (b) provide technical assistance in the funding of safe and healthy facilities for HS children through the Real Property Facilities Initiative (RPFI). The Real Properties Facilities Analyst (RPFA) will work with Regional Office federal staff in the creation of processes that will enhance their capacity to manage facility actions and enhance systems across the twelve OHS regions.  Since services are provided nationwide some travel is required for this position.  The RPFA will be located at the assigned Regional Office and be responsible for coordinating Regional facilities technical assistance activities and supporting the development of training processes, materials and resources within the scope of the RPFI. Hydrological Software Engineer UMass Amherst
NASA, together with the space agencies of France, the UK, and Canada, is launching the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite to provide transformational data to the ocean science and hydrology communities. The University of Massachusetts Amherst will be the ‘final stop’ for all information needed to produce novel estimates of river discharge at the global scale from SWOT data. We will build a platform to amalgamate all previous code, knowledge, and insight into an efficient, open source, and comprehensive software platform to be made available to NASA and the public. Our open source and containerized software will run on a range of operating systems, clusters, or in the cloud, and thus any user can pursue their own discharge goals on their own terms while we deliver on mission discharge requirements at the global scale at the same time.
Senior Research Fellow UMass Amherst
The Stephens Lab (https://www.bio.umass.edu/biology/stephens/home) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is recruiting a Senior Research Fellow. The Stephens lab is a new lab and studies the mechanical and shape properties of the cell nucleus and how these properties affect major nuclear functions such as genome organization, DNA damage, compartmentalization, and transcription. Abnormal nuclear shape has been used as diagnostic and prognostic marker for human disease such as cancer for nearly a century without understanding how these nuclear abnormal deformations occur and what their real consequences are to cell function.

The Wadsworth Lab at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass, Amherst), in a collaborative project with the Ross Lab at Syracuse University, seeks a Post Doctoral Research Associate to perform research on mitotic spindle dynamics and mechanics. This will include generating mammalian cells using CRISPR or siRNA to test candidate MAPs in spindle function. The appointee is expected to establish some independence in research design and execution, and to publish her/his work as appropriate in collaboration with the principle investigators.
