Departmental Assistant - Civic Initiative Mentor

| Mentors at UMDI CI provide administrative and organizational assistance to the Civic programs, assisting with the day-to-day functions. This will include, but not be limited to, supporting the academic director and program manager with administrative tasks and communication, and assisting with planning and organizing the schedule for each day. Mentors will have a unique opportunity to host small and large group sessions on social, cultural, and academic issues. In addition to facilitating participants’ programming (virtual and/or in-person) and creating a positive environment for the participants, mentors are expected to be present and engaged with the participants during small group and project activity. The mentors provide participants with the opportunity to learn more about American culture, norms, and discuss program content areas in an informal setting; similarly, mentors are able to learn about the participant’s home countries. This cross-cultural exchange represents an important aspect of the CI’s mission, by developing more substantive connections and understandings of different cultures, norms, and values. |

Post Doctoral Research Associate - Kinesiology

| We are searching for a highly motivated and proactive individual, ideally, with a focus on physical activity interventions and neuroimaging for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Kinesiology department and IALS. This postdoctoral position will involve participating in existing studies, leading independent research, as well as conducting analysis of existing data, which can range broadly from behavioral (e.g., computerized task) to neuroimaging (e.g., fMRI) data from studies examining the relationships between physical behaviors and cognitive and brain functions in adults. |

| The Postdoctoral Research Associate will have the opportunity to assist in both the research and the community-partnered approaches to conducting this research. Responsibilities include writing scientific papers, quantitative and qualitative data collection and/or analysis, literature reviews, community engagement, and grant writing. Overall goals and specific activities will be determined collaboratively between the post-doc and Dr. Mackie, but can include multiple first-authored and co-authored journal articles, development of project leadership skills, research proposal submissions (PCORI, National Institute of Health, foundations), methods training, community engagement, conference presentations, and formal and informal mentorship and networking opportunities. |

Postdoctoral Research Associate 100% - CBIKS

| This position is with the Center for Braiding Indigenous Knowledges and Science (CBIKS), a National Science Foundation Science & Technology Center. This position assists CBIKS thematic research groups in conducting “science of science” research within the CBIKS network. The eight research theme areas at CBIKS are: ethics, data sovereignty, relationality & research development, fieldwork & braiding knowledges, formal & informal science education, storywork & knowledge mobilization, training scientists, and policy & government agencies.
This is an on-site position at CBIKS Central on the UMass Amherst campus in Amherst, MA with the possibility of some remote work. This is a one-year position with a possibility of renewal for a second year. |
