| Dr. Kathryn Derose and Dr. Daniel López-Cevallos of the UMass Amherst Department of Health Promotion and Policy are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to begin Summer or Fall of 2025. This is a full time, 12-month, annually renewable position with a maximum duration of 2 years. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to research on community-partnered interventions aimed at addressing health disparities both in the U.S. and/or in Latin America; and secondary data analysis of cardiovascular health among military populations in the U.S. Current topics and populations of focus include faith-based organizations and health promotion; food security and nutrition interventions to improve treatment adherence among people with HIV in the Dominican Republic; and stress and cardiovascular health among military populations. Responsibilities include writing scientific papers, quantitative and qualitative data collection and/or analysis, literature reviews, community and study partners’ engagement, and grant writing. Overall goals and specific activities will be determined collaboratively between the post-doc and Drs. Derose and López-Cevallos but can include: first-authored and co-authored journal articles; development of project leadership skills; NIH and DoD grant submissions; quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods training; community-based participatory research, and formalized mentorship. |

| The Department of Food Science and the Institute for Applied Life Sciences (IALS) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for an academic year, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Foods for Precision Nutrition. We are seeking dynamic and innovative individuals with demonstrable ability for translational research in precision nutrition, including, but not limited to:
• Developing novel technologies to improve nutrition and health outcomes.
• Developing foods and/or novel food materials that influence gene-nutrient interactions and health outcomes.
• Modulating gut microbiota through diet for enhanced health.
• Identifying biomarkers for nutrient requirements and nutritional status across diverse populations.
• Exploring the role of genetic variation in response to food components, dietary patterns and nutrient metabolism using genetic/genomic and data science approaches.
• Applying precision nutrition to address health disparities, food insecurity, and sustainability.

Visiting (Open Rank) Research Professor

| The Visiting (Open Rank) Research Professor for Slavery North will actively participate in both the scholarly and social environment of the center. Visiting Research Professors, with support of Slavery North leadership, will conduct independent research and create original works in one or more of the five mandate areas of Slavery North which include 1) Canadian Slavery, (2) slavery in the US North, (3) the comparative study of slavery in Canada, the US North, and other northern or temperate regions, (4) the study of the inter-connectedness of slavery in Canada and the US North with Caribbean Slavery, and (5) Black-Indigenous relations in Canadian Slavery or US North Slavery. Furthermore, the research must center on the enslaved and/or adopt an anti-colonial, de-colonial, post-colonial, and/or anti-racist methodology/approach which challenges the nature of European and Euro-American imperialism and colonialism and interrogates the racist logic of the institution of Transatlantic Slavery. |

Research Fellow - Health Promotion & Policy

| The research fellow will conduct interviews with research participants, facilitate focus groups for research purposes, oversee collection of qualitative data and intervention process evaluation data by collaborators, analyze qualitative and quantitative data, coordinate training events, ensure that research projects meet regulatory requirements, coordinate the work of students and staff, oversee COVID-19 mitigation efforts as needed, prepare budget reports, assist with project management, co-author reports and papers for dissemination, and perform other research-related tasks. Research populations may include people with opioid and other substance use disorders, criminal justice involved individuals (including incarcerated), individuals with mental health conditions, and people with HIV and food insecurity. |
