Job Summary

Under administrative and clinical direction of the Director of Sport Psychology, performs a variety of mental health diagnostic, psychotherapeutic, and consulting services for student-athletes.

 

Essential Functions

  • Performs psychotherapeutic evaluation of clients and provides clinical care and treatment. Timely documentation of evaluations and clinical care.
  • Consults on cases as assigned or requested.
  • Consults with coaches, athletic trainers and others in athletics around mental health needs of student-athletes.
  • Collaborates closely with multi-disciplinary teams comprised of members or University Health Services, Center for Counseling and Psychological Health (CCPH), and Athletics.
  • Conducts group therapy sessions.
  • Conducts critical incident response interventions, as well as crisis response for individuals and groups.
  • Serves on committees and participates in meetings and workshops as requested.
  • May functionally supervise a trainee, or junior staff member, when assigned.
  • Understands, is committed to, and supports departmental affirmative action and non-discrimination goals and policies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Master’s Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
  • LMHC, licensure or license eligible within 9 month
  • 1-3 years of experience in delivering psychotherapy services.

 

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Clinical experience working with student-athlete population
  • Sport Psychology degree/education and/or training/experience
  • Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC)

 

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Typical office environment activity.

 

Work Schedule

M-F 9:00-5:00 but hours may vary based on demands of the position.  Evenings and weekends may be required depending on the demands of the position.
