Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Campus Services, the Director is responsible for all aspects of the Campus Center and Event Services Department.   They will be responsible for two distinct areas within the department. Event Services – The office serves as a central location for event scheduling, conference and event services, providing a full range of meeting and event spaces to departments, student organizations and external clients.   This includes oversight of all indoor/outdoor meeting and event space (except any specifically exempted spaces), space reservation processes/policies, sales, marketing, event set-up/breakdown, classroom set-up and the equipment associated with each. The Campus Center – The office manages the day-to-day operation of the Campus Center.  The “living room” and community center at UMass Boston, the Campus Center is a contemporary, attractive, and spacious location for social, cultural, and educational programs, and a central location for many university and campus services.  They will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Campus Center, including facility opening/closing, services, event spaces, equipment, and alongside the Facilities Department, the up-keep, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs.  The Director supports the mission of the Campus Center and creates a balance between a.) Student Life and Student Involvement; b.) Student and University Services; and c.) Event and Conference Services.

The Latino Policy Analyst (LPA) will work with the Gastón Institute’s Director, Associate Director and/or Principal Investigators to conduct statewide research and policy analysis focusing on the status of Latino communities, with a special focus on developing recommendations for policies, programs and best practices at the local and state levels that support the advancement of the Latino community in Massachusetts. The LPA will collect and analyze primary data across the state; and will analyze secondary data collected by federal agencies, state agencies, community-based organizations, human services providers, academic and professional journals, professional organizations and foundations. The LPA will write and prepare policy/issue briefs, research summaries and literature reviews; and will serve as the lead facilitator for the “Latino Public Policy Advisory Group” at the Gastón Institute. The LPA will also support the development of grant proposals for the group’s research agenda. The LPA will also work closely with community-based organizations to identify Latino needs and emerging trends, and areas for coordination and collaboration that support policy-based initiatives for the Latino community in MA.
