| Under the direction of the Associate Director of Building Maintenance & Alterations, the Assistant Director of Building Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance and operations of the academic and research facilities located on the UMass Amherst campus and outlying stations. This position directly supervises Building Maintenance Managers (Zone 4 and Central Shops) and indirectly supervises Institutional Maintenance Foremen. The Assistant Director provides leadership and direction for the organized direction reporting to them. The role includes reviewing schematic design diagrams, construction documents, and product and equipment submittals. The Assistant Director plans repairs and preventive maintenance and assists with the planning of Capital Improvement Projects to ensure all systems operate reliably. Additionally, this position represents the Physical Plant in the Facilities Planning Division on all matters related to the design, construction, start-up, and commissioning of new construction and renovation projects. |
