Job Summary

Reporting to the General Manager - Football, the Director of Football On-Campus Recruiting & Administrative Operations serves as the strategic lead and primary owner of all on-campus recruiting operations for Massachusetts Football. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and executing an elite on-campus recruiting experience that aligns with the program’s competitive goals, culture, and values. Oversees recruiting operations, including visit planning, logistics, and materials. Manages official and unofficial visits by coordinating travel, itineraries, accommodations, meals, and on-campus experiences. Handles compliance workflows for visits, supports office administration tasks, and participates in advance away game travel planning. Due to the national exposure that the football program receives, it is imperative that the Director of Football On-Campus Recruiting & Administrative Operations ensures that all of the responsibilities of this position are conducted within the Department, University, NCAA, Conference, state and federal philosophies, rules, and regulations.

 

Essential Functions

Owns the planning, coordination, and execution of all official and unofficial on campus visits. Oversees visit schedules, itineraries, logistics, and communication with prospects and families. Ensures each visit is customized, intentional, and aligned with Massachusetts Football’s identity. Serves as the primary point of accountability for visit execution and experience quality.

Serves as the lead architect for Massachusetts Football’s on-campus recruiting strategy. Establishes standards, workflows, and best practices for all visit-related operations. Aligns on-campus recruiting execution with roster strategy, recruiting board priorities, and head coach vision. Manages and schedules interns for on-campus visits. Continuously evaluates and enhances the on-campus recruiting experience to maintain national competitiveness.

Leads collaboration between recruiting, player personnel, football operations, academics, housing, facilities, compliance, and external partners. Stewardship of recruiting resources used for On-Campus recruiting. Ensures stakeholders are aligned and informed well in advance of visits and recruiting events. Anticipates challenges and proactively resolves conflicts related to scheduling, resources, or personnel.

Partners with the General Manager on onboarding processes. Oversees summer bridge participation and newcomer or mid-year enrollment logistics. Ensures a seamless transition from recruit to enrolled student-athlete.

Interviews and hires students for the internship program within the football on-campus recruiting section. Mentors undergraduate students to foster and encourage academic success, campus engagement, personal growth and professional development. Encourages the students to explore education and career development and learn new skills and professional development as it relates to the on-campus recruiting operations Evaluates progress of the student within their field.

Maintains oversight of recruiting calendars, visit tracking, and internal communication systems. Provides timely updates and strategic insights to the coaching staff. Ensures recruiting information is accurate, organized, and accessible for decision-making.

Exercises independent judgment in a high-visibility, fast-paced environment. Anticipates downstream impacts of recruiting decisions on roster management and operations. Adapts quickly to changes in recruiting landscape, schedules, and external pressures Serves as a calm, solutions-oriented leader during high-volume recruiting periods.

Maintains full compliance with NCAA, conference, university, and athletic department regulations. Manages both official and unofficial pre/post workflows. Serves as a resource for compliance-related questions tied to on-campus recruiting and visits.Ensures recruiting activities are documented and executed within policy guidelines.

Assists in the facilitation and organization of football student-athlete engagement initiatives such as community service and on/off campus student events.

Responsible for Head Coach receipts and approvals. Maintains Door name plates in the Football Performance Center. Performs other duties as assigned.

Manages student-athlete holds.

Attends conventions, conferences, clinics, etc., consistent with department policy.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.

Knowledge of NCAA recruiting policies and procedures.

Ability to work efficiently and multi-task in stressful and demanding situations.

Ability to work effectively with student athletes, coaches, and athletic staff.

Working knowledge of rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Must be very detailed oriented and have excellent organizational skills.

Meets physical, health and emotional stability standards consistent with the demands of the position.

Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends, including traveling with program to away games, being present at practice, staff meetings, and recruiting events.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management.

Experience working in NCAA Division 1 FBS and/or FCS College Football Recruiting.

 

Additional Details

The position is typically for one year, with the possibility of reappointment.

This position is designated as essential personnel by Athletics.

 

Working Conditions

Work is performed in indoor and/or outdoor athletic facilities and venues. May require travel to competitions, lifting and transporting equipment, prolonged standing, and walking during practices, games, and recruiting activities.

 

Work Schedule and Work Arrangement

This position is required to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as schedules dictate.

 

Salary Information

UMass Amherst expects to pay $48,000.16 for this position.
