Provides high-level administrative support to the BiomedicalEngineering Department (BME) and Department Head (DH)within the College of Engineering at UMass Amherst. Uses independent judgment to prioritize projects and accomplish tasks. Coordinates and maintains faculty personnel actions including searches, annual reviews, tenure/promotion reviews, and reappointments. Creates and maintains office management systems for department operations to ensure consistent and transparent records for the organization of the main office. Serves as the primary point of contact for all incoming requests and provides exceptional customer service to colleagues, faculty, students, and non-UMass customers, vendors, sponsors, etc., with a collaborative spirit, collegiality, and friendliness. Accountant I UMass Amherst
The Accountant I is responsible for managing College of Natural Sciences (CNS) and CNS Dean’s Office campus funds and provides support for business processes in CNS to meet operational and strategic objectives. Accurately performs all functions related to the patient intake process at University Health Services (UHS) by interviewing patients, verifying eligibility electronically via multi-payer systems and entering or updating information in the practice manager in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy. Ensures the facility will be reimbursed for the services performed by verifying eligibility and benefits and obtaining pre-determinations and authorizations. Assures timely access to care for patients. Collects co-pays and fee-for-service payments and prepares electronic reconciliation of daily log. Processes telephone traffic and urgent situations in a timely manner, supports and assists various departments and utilizes the computer system to locate patients and providers. Verifies that all patients are complying with the UHS Eligibility policy.
