Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Student Parent Programs, the Assistant Director of Student Parent Programs performs a variety of functions and responsibilities related to the delivery of non-clinical case management and wraparound services, with primary responsibility for supporting student parents and coordinating programs and services that promote student parent success, persistence, and degree completion.

 

Essential Functions

Assists with the day-to-day operations of Student Parent Programs, including grant-funded services and university-funded initiatives, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery.

Assists in the development, implementation, and assessment of educational initiatives, services, and processes related to Student Parent Programs, ensuring alignment with divisional and institutional priorities. Manages the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of 5-10 undergraduate student employees.

Provides a continuum of case management services to student parents navigating complex and/or extenuating circumstances related to personal, academic, mental health, physical health, psychosocial adjustment, childcare or basic needs. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting non-clinical assessment of concerns/referrals, meeting with students, connecting students with campus and community resources, collaborating with campus and community partners in supporting student parents.

Serves as Project Coordinator for grant-funded programs, including supervision of a Graduate Assistant and coordination of student support services. Provides ongoing case management and wraparound support to program participants; administers participant recruitment, eligibility verification, enrollment, and ongoing compliance monitoring. Maintains accurate program records, tracks participant outcomes, and ensures adherence to all grant, contractual, regulatory, and university reporting requirements.

Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for student parents, provides information, support, and coordinated referrals related to childcare access, family leave, Title IX protections for pregnant and parenting students, basic needs resources, and services that promote student success and retention.

Reviews referrals from faculty, staff, and other members of the campus community regarding new and existing concerns. Autonomously manages a caseload of students, providing individualized case management, tailored intervention, support and connection to campus and community resources, as well as consistent follow-up to students until the concern is resolved or the student has successfully connected to an appropriate source of support. Connects with designated emergency contacts or outside agencies as appropriate.

Uses sound professional judgement and university policies to determine the appropriate follow up for the student and the referring party. Referrals to the CARE or BIT teams are needed if emergency services need to be alerted, and/or if emergency contact needs to be notified.

Manages financial administration for grant-funded and university-funded student parent initiatives, including processing childcare subsidy and emergency grant awards in coordination with Financial Aid Services and the Bursar's Office. Monitors expenditures, maintains budget documentation, reconciles program expenses, and ensure compliance with all funding source requirements, university policies, and fiscal controls. Prepare fiscal and programmatic reports, maintain supporting documentation for audits and compliance reviews, and contribute to grant applications, annual reports, and funding updates.

Develops and delivers outreach initiatives, workshops, and trainings for student parents and campus partners to increase awareness of services and promote student parent success. Supports strategic communication and outreach efforts, including digital engagement, program promotion, and partnerships to enhance program visibility and accessibility. Utilizes data, assessment outcomes, and student trends to inform program improvements, operational decisions, and strategic planning efforts.

Supports the maintenance of applicable databases of internal and external resources available to students. Contributes to special projects involving policy review and development, report generation, data analysis, program development and implementation, and initiatives designed to educate the campus community about the Dean of Students Office and Student Parent Programs.

Supports effective collaborative relationships with campus and community partners, including academic units, student services and student support offices, childcare providers, and health and human service agencies.

Stays abreast of legislation, higher education trends, and best practices related to student parent success, case management, and student support services. Incorporates emerging knowledge into program development, service delivery, and student success strategies.

Serves in the Director’s absence as a representative of Student Parent Programs and contributes to divisional and institutional initiatives. Represents Student Parents Programs, Dean of Students Office, and Dean of Students Collaborative on university committees.

Conducts programs and trainings and may assist in transporting programmatic materials and supplies.

Performs related duties as assigned or required. Understands responsibilities with respect to Title IX, Clery and other compliance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree and two years of experience providing services to students at a college/university or community agency; OR a Bachelor's degree and four years of progressively responsible experience providing services to students at a college/university or community agency.

Significant understanding of issues impacting college student success and demonstrated knowledge of case management and wraparound service best practices.

Demonstrated experience supporting students or individuals navigating crisis situations, complex personal circumstances, and/or basic needs challenges.

Demonstrated ability and experience developing and maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external constituents.

Knowledge of budget management, financial processes, and expense tracking.

Demonstrated computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite applications and web-based systems.

Experience using a web-based software platform to initiate, track, document, and manage work.

Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and advancing inclusive practices.

Demonstrated experience developing and delivering trainings, workshops, presentations, and small-group facilitation.

Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with family resources, parent education, or basic needs support.

Knowledge of grant reporting and grant compliance in higher education or human service fields.

Experience with budget development and expense tracking.

Additional Details

Required to work some nights and weekends.

This is a grant funded position. Reappointment for this position is contingent on funding availability.

This position is subject to final budgetary and administrative approval.

 

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in an indoor university environment and involves lifting and transporting materials or equipment and general physical activity, including prolonged standing, walking, or assuming low postures.

 

Work Schedule and Work Arrangement

M-F 8:30 am - 5:00pm

Required to work some nights and weekends.

 

 

Salary Information

Pay Grade: PSSAP Grade 27
