Assistant Professor- Biology in UMass Boston
The Department of Biology at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor to pursue a research program in microbial ecology. The position will begin September 1, 2026. Areas of interest within microbial biology include (but are not limited to) the impact of microbial communities on human or environmental health, the effects of microbes on multiple levels of biological organization (i.e., from cells to ecosystems), interactions among microorganisms, and evolutionary processes in microbial communities.

Outreach Coordinator for MassDEP/UMass Amherst (UMA) Interdepartmental Service Agreement (ISA)-based projects for implementing MassDEP Drinking Water Program initiatives focused on Lead in Schools and Childcares programs. This role includes coordinating outreach and maintaining routine communication with schools, childcares, local officials and partner agencies in support of MassDEP Drinking Water Program Initiatives. The Outreach Coordinator will lead engagement with Board of Health (BOH) and state education partners, foster collaboration with childcare and school systems, manage in-person seminar logistics, and assist in translating outreach materials into Spanish to improve program accessibility. The Outreach Coordinator will conduct research to assess the effectiveness of Water-Smart outreach activities.
