Irma McClaurin Black Feminist Archivist (Hybrid Opportunity) UMass Amherst
The Irma McClaurin Black Feminist Archive (BFA) is an archival home for Black women and their allies. Founded by Dr. Irma McClaurin, Black feminist anthropologist, academic administrator, award-winning poet and author, past president of Shaw University and leader in higher education, the BFA seeks to identify Black women from all walks of life who are artists, activists, and academics but may not be well known, and document their wide array of contributions at many levels: community, state, national, and global. The Irma McClaurin Black Feminist Archivist will work with colleagues in the Robert S. Cox Special Collections and University Archives Research Center (SCUA), working with the Head of SCUA, Curator of Collections, and Associate Dean on collection development, description and access, digitization, public programming, and promotion of collections that document the lives and work of Black women and their allies. The Archivist will be responsible for implementing professional standards in arrangement and description; assisting patrons in learning and research; identifying collections for digitization and ensuring digital content is created according to national and departmental standards; conducting research; overseeing the transfer and accessioning of new collections; and supporting the use of collections in SCUA's reading room. This position is term-limited to three years and may be extended at the discretion of the Dean of University Libraries, contingent on available funding.
Clinical Placement Service Manager UMass Amherst
The College of Nursing is seeking a full-time 12-month Graduate Clinical Placement Services Manager. Under the general direction of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and in collaboration with program directors, this staff member will recruit new clinical placement locations and preceptors as well as maintain existing relationships for our nursing students who are both local and located nationally. They will work with the College of Nursing faculty and other departments within the campus to promote opportunities for inter-professional education. We welcome applicants from a variety of methodological, disciplinary, and theoretical backgrounds with a substantive focus on law, crime, and society, punishment, and/or the carceral state, in the United States or the US in comparative perspective. The teaching load is 2/2 and consists of two Legal Studies courses and two Honors courses per year, particularly the Honors Thesis Seminar or courses satisfying General Education requirements. Honors Faculty also are engaged in the Commonwealth Honors College community and meet annually with the CHC Dean, in addition to contributing to the life of their home department, college, and university.
