Laboratory Technician II

| This person will set up and organize course-based laboratories in the Biology Department. The person provides technical support in work with the director of teaching labs, other technicians, teaching assistants, professors, and instructors who teach a variety of different courses in the Biology Department.
This person must be experienced in a variety of basic biological and chemical laboratory protocols. They will evaluate, pilot, and troubleshoot lab exercises; help to edit lab manuals; maintain computers and lab equipment; update electronic records; work with databases; and help train and supervise work-study students.
This person is expected to foster good working relationships with others; be organized, productive and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment; work independently; prioritize duties and delegate work expeditiously; and remain focused and on-task despite interruptions. |

Assistant Manager (Franklin Dining Commons)

| Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Dining Common, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the dining common, in the areas of quality control, program enhancement, food purchasing, food production, quality assurance, line presentation, staff scheduling and customer service. This position is also responsible for the planning and the implementation of special projects designated by the Executive Director, Food Services as deemed necessary. The projects will include operations management, marketing programs, customer services, training, catering, quality assurance and the supervision of an additional operation and special events, as needed. In the absence of the Dining Common Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for nights and weekends duties. |

| Conduct and analyze market research to support identification and promotion of revenue generation opportunities for Auxiliary Enterprises. Participate in the creation, management and execution of department marketing promotion plans and contracts. Assess and document department strategies and outcomes through data driven metrics and reports. Oversee the online & offline brand presence of UMass Auxiliary Enterprises, including Hotel UMass, UMass Dining (residential & retail), UMass Catering, UMass Conference Services, University Club and Restaurant, UMass Dining 5K Event, Sustainability, and off-site brands such as the University of Massachusetts Club in Boston and Mt. Ida Campus. Participate and serve on the Chancellor’s Sustainability Advisory Committee – Marketing Workgroup. Duties include planning & implementing long and short-term marketing strategies for Auxiliary Departments and their key role within the University. |
