General Summary:
A postdoctoral researcher will perform the research towards exploring the application of the variational quantum algorithms in quantum simulation. The main goal will be pushing forward theoretical understanding of quantum manybody systems through quantum simulations.
Examples of Duties:
- Research design and execution: developing and executing research projects; formulating and testing hypotheses analytically and numerically.
- Literature Review: the postdoctoral researcher will stay abreast of the latest developments in the field by conducting literature reviews and presenting the latest results with critical analysis to the research group
- Research Collaboration: collaborating with other members of the group, as well as researchers from other institutions, and engaging in discussions and brainstorming sessions to enhance research outcomes
- Paper and grant writing: preparing research papers for publication in world-leading peer-reviewed journals; contributing to the development of grant proposals to secure funding for ongoing and future research projects.
- Data analysis: analyzing theoretical models and simulation results, interpreting data, developing algorithms and computational tools for data analysis.
- Conference participation: presenting research findings at conferences and workshops to stay connected with the broader scientific community and gather feedback on their work
- Mentoring: providing guidance and mentorship to the graduate and undergraduate students within the research group; assisting in training new researchers and students.
- Professional development: engaging in professional development activities, such as attending workshops or courses to enhance research skills and build up the network with other researchers in the field and professional relationships.
- Dissemination of research: communicating research findings through seminars, workshops, and other public engagement activities to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge through outreach and public engagement.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have Ph.D. in physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, or relevant fields. The candidate must be able to operate in a team environment, with excellent organizational and communication skills. A strong programming background is an advantage.

This is an exempt union position. This is a grant funded position with a current end date of September 30, 2028, subject to renewal contingent on funding and university needs.
