Professional Academic Advisor/Retention Support Specialist (part-time/temporary) UMass Lowell
The Centers for Learning, Advising and Student Success (CLASS) is a centrally coordinated student academic support center and provides advising, tutoring, success coaching and a wide range of academic support services to all UMass Lowell students. The Centers for Learning offers these services on both north and south campus and has professional advisors located both centrally and within the academic colleges. The Centers for Learning is actively engaged in university-wide student success initiatives and partners with academic colleges, student affairs and other units on campus to support the retention, persistence, and graduation of all our students. This professional academic advising position requires an advanced, developmental, proactive problem-solving approach to advisement to ensure students succeed academically and are fully engaged in their educational experience. The primary responsibilities include advising a caseload of first-time freshman and/or transfer students on program requirements and registration issues, degree planning, monitoring student progress, re-enrollment outreach, and supporting at-risk students. The position also involves assisting with the support of various activities and events promoting student engagement and community building. Participation in recruitment, outreach and orientation activities required.

Assistant Teaching Professor - Mathematical Sciences (multiple positions) UMass Lowell

Postdoctoral Research Associate 100% - CBIKS UMass Amherst
This position is with the Center for Braiding Indigenous Knowledges and Science (CBIKS), a National Science Foundation Science & Technology Center. CBIKS is an interdisciplinary center that examines how to effectively and ethically braid Western and Indigenous science research, education, and practice related to the urgent and interconnected challenges of climate change, protections of cultural places, and food sovereignty. CBIKS activities include studying and promoting wise practices in community-based research with Indigenous communities, from relationship development and the research development process through storywork and knowledge mobilization. CBIKS activities include promoting the respectful braiding of Indigenous science with Western science, and supporting community-based research agendas and collaborative research design. This position assists CBIKS thematic research groups in conducting “science of science” research within the CBIKS network. The eight research theme areas at CBIKS are: ethics, data sovereignty, relationality & research development, fieldwork & braiding knowledges, formal & informal science education, storywork & knowledge mobilization, training scientists, and policy & government agencies. This is an on-site position at CBIKS Central on the UMass Amherst campus in Amherst, MA with the possibility of some remote work. This is a one-year position with a possibility of renewal for a second year. Postdocs are expected to engage in at least two of the eight research themes. Dr. Kathryn Derose and Dr. Daniel López-Cevallos of the UMass Amherst Department of Health Promotion and Policy are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to begin Summer or Fall of 2025. This is a full time, 12-month, annually renewable position with a maximum duration of 2 years. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to research on community-partnered interventions aimed at addressing health disparities both in the U.S. and/or in Latin America; and secondary data analysis of cardiovascular health among military populations in the U.S. Current topics and populations of focus include faith-based organizations and health promotion; food security and nutrition interventions to improve treatment adherence among people with HIV in the Dominican Republic; and stress and cardiovascular health among military populations. Responsibilities include writing scientific papers, quantitative and qualitative data collection and/or analysis, literature reviews, community and study partners’ engagement, and grant writing. Overall goals and specific activities will be determined collaboratively between the post-doc and Drs. Derose and López-Cevallos but can include: first-authored and co-authored journal articles; development of project leadership skills; NIH and DoD grant submissions; quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods training; community-based participatory research, and formalized mentorship.
