Job Summary
The Charge RN Team Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of the Walk In Clinic to best meet the needs of patients at University Health Services (UHS).
Essential Functions
- Supervises overall operations of the clinic RN’s, including staff scheduling.
- Collaborates with other Clinic Supervisors and UHS Leadership on issues of staffing, scheduling and other clinic issues.
- Ensures that policies, systems, procedures, standards, and guidelines are communicated to all staff.
- Directly supervises LPN's and RN's. Orients, evaluates, schedules, and assigns RN staff to various clinic duties and locations. Requests positions, interviews, and participates in the hiring of new staff in collaboration with the Clinical RN Manager.
- Acts in the role of patient advocate.
- Researches and addresses patient complaints. Serves as liaison between patients, providers, and other health services departments.
- Participates in regularly scheduled nursing meetings, task forces and committees. Participates in programs of quality assurance, peer review and continuing education.
- Provides direct patient care to patients including education and triage. Assists with medical exams and procedures as needed. Assists patients with follow-up care and outside referrals.
- Participates in RN clinical rotation.
- Maintains working knowledge of emergency equipment. Responsible for equipment and supplies in the outpatient clinic area, reporting and following up on repairs and replacement equipment.
- Understands and contributes to implementation of departmental and institutional goals for achieving non-discrimination and creating a multicultural environment.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
- Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of progressively responsible nursing experience, including 2 years of supervisory responsibility. A graduate degree of an accredited BSN degree program or extensive relevant education may be substituted for part or all the bachelor’s degree.
- Must hold a current license to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Certified in basic CPR, annually renewed.
- Ability to lift and transfer patients.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Typical Walk-In Health Care Clinic Environment and Activity. Employee will lift and transfer patients as needs dictate.
Work Schedule
- Full time Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00 pm.
- Works evenings, weekends & holidays as business needs dictate.
