  • Slavery North Artist-In-Residence/Research Fellow in UMass Amherst

    The Artist-In-Residence (Research Fellow) for Slavery North will actively participate in both the scholarly and social environment of the center. Artists-in-Residence, with support of Slavery North leadership, will conduct independent research and create original works in one or more of the five mandate areas of Slavery North which include 1) Canadian Slavery, (2) slavery in the US North, (3) the comparative study of slavery in Canada, the US North, and other northern or temperate regions, (4) the study of the inter-connectedness of slavery in Canada and the US North with Caribbean Slavery, and (5) Black-Indigenous relations in Canadian Slavery or US North Slavery. Furthermore, the research must center on the enslaved and/or adopt an anti-colonial, de-colonial, post-colonial, and/or anti-racist methodology/approach which challenges the nature of European and Euro-American imperialism and colonialism and interrogates the racist logic of the institution of Transatlantic Slavery.

    Senior Research Fellow - Analytical Geochemistry in UMass Amherst

    We are seeking a full-time Senior Research Fellow to manage analytical geochemistry research facilities and instrumentation and conduct research with faculty within the Department of Earth, Geographic, and Climate Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The Senior Research Fellow will manage the Cosmogenic Nuclide and X-ray Analytical Laboratores in support of research in geochemistry, geomorphology, volcanology, sedimentology, mineralogy, and petrology.

  • Post Doctoral Research Associate - HPP in UMass Amherst

    The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to externally funded (NIH and PCORI currently) research on a range of topics related to health disparities. Current topics and populations of focus include effects of Medicaid 1115 Waivers on pediatric healthcare quality and utilization in Massachusetts, implementation of depression screening and treatment in renal dialysis facilities, and arts-based participatory action research focused on LGBTQIA+ youth mental health. The Postdoctoral Research Associate responsibilities will include assisting Dr. Goff and the research team in quantitative and qualitative data collection and/or analysis, supporting Dr. Goff in preparation of grant proposals that are largely focused on healthcare quality and health disparities for women and children, writing scientific papers, literature reviews, and community engagement. Responsibilities may require indirect supervision of undergraduate research assistants working on the same team on a project as the Postdoctoral Research Associate.

It also provides perspective on student and faculty life at the University and supports and kindles student, faculty and alumni engagement.  The position requires excellent research and writing skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of audiences, including students, faculty, staff, administrators, public officials, alumni and donors. The Social Media Writer/Strategist must be able to work independently and as a team member, exercising sound judgment under deadline conditions. The job requires being available outside of normal business hours as needed, and participating in an on-call rotation on nights, weekends and holidays to monitor and post timely social media and web content.
